The ACT test is a standardized test used for college admissions in the United States. It’s possible you took one in high school as you were trying to get into college. But they are much more than just that. In my time at Airtight Design, I was heavily involved in countless projects that ranged from custom educational resources to redesigns of two of their websites.

Accessible Resources

Outside of the websites, I was often given a text-heavy Word document that was to be styled into a visually appealing and accessible PDF using their brand guidelines.

Sourcing stock photography and all visual elements was key to supporting the text. Working closely with the authors was a critical component in ensuring that these documents reflected not only their voice but also their vision. Data visualization was often including, taking a basic chart and bringing it to life with additional design.

Accessibility is a primary focus for ACT and once the design of the report was approved, the finishing touch was to make it WCAG 2.1 compliant. This was done with a combination of Commonlook and Adobe Acrobat. This went well beyond alt-text to include reading order, bookmarks, and proper table structure.
